“The Optimism Advantage” is IMS’s “Book of the Month” for May

Dr. Terry Paulson’s newest book, The Optimism Advantage, has been selected by the Institute for Management Studies as the “Book of the Month” for May. With over 450 major organizations worldwide using IMS as a key component of their overall leadership development strategy, this members-only organization’s highly acclaimed management development series allows leaders to interact and learn from some of the world’s leading management thinkers. With over 20 years of IMS involvement, Dr. Paulson has earned the IMS designation of “Distinguished Faculty” and is honored to have his book selected as the IMS Book of the Month.

“Too many people are watching and waiting for the economy to turn around or for Washington to do some sort of magic,” Dr. Paulson warned. “It’s time for leaders and workers to take responsibility for their own economy! This book is about trading learned helplessness for earned optimism and transforming attitudes and actions into results! It’s time to invest your worry time in constructively inventing your own future. The fairy godmother isn’t coming.”

“Earned optimism comes from a track record of overcoming obstacles. The more obstacles you have overcome, the more you believe that you can handle the next one you face,” claimed Dr. Paulson, PhD psychologist and award-winning professional speaker on making change work. “Optimists don’t deny reality. They are realists who want to know the problems they face so they can get busy problem solving. Sometimes, life is about playing a poor hand well.”

“The job of a leader is to keep hope alive and keep everyone focused on strategic opportunities,” Dr. Paulson asserted. “This book gives leaders the tools they need to motivate themselves and to make their optimism downright contagious. After all, the biggest difference between a vision and a hallucination is the number of people who can see it.”

The Optimism Advantage is published by Wiley and is available in your local bookstore or online.
